It took a strong closing click and Lyons Tilt Hanover had it well within her as she captured the $26,000 Fillies and Mares feature harness racing pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park Friday.
Seven starters (Shes Nun Bettor N a late scratch) went behind the starting gate in the ninth race and it was Trafalgar and driver Trevor Henry leaving from the outside to take early command away from Better Be Donna N (James MacDonald).
They went to the opening quarter mile in :28.1 and MacDonald came right out with Better Be Donna N and went right to the front.
They raced past the half mile in :57.3 with Better Be Donna N in command. Before the three-quarters, Lyons Tilt Hanover and driver Austin Sorrie came first-over and then Trafalgar, who was sitting the pocket trip, nearly came to a halt as the rest of the field had to clear around her.
Past the three-quarters in 1:26.4, Lyons Tilt Hanover has put away Better Be Donna N and was able to then win with ease by two lengths over Dabarndawgswatchin (Louis-Philippe Roy) with Awesome Hill (Sylvain Filion) third. Time of the mile was 1:55.1.
