Laila Blue (Art Major) battled to her first career Preferred win in the harness racing feature for fillies and mares at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Wednesday (Apr. 24).
The mare, who hasnāt missed a cheque in 15 starts this year, sat fifth until sliding out second-over on the third turn for Travis Henry. She persisted as her cover, Exotic Dragon (Travis Cullen) cleared to the front, and Laila Blue muscled past her and out-kicked the three-wide Sports Duchess (Samuel Fillion) coming down the stretch to score by a length in 1:58. Sports Duchess and Exotic Dragon dead-heated for place.
