Harness racing driver David Kelly and trainer Kelly Crump were Friday’s (Aug. 12) big winners at Century Downs with four and three victories, respectively.
They combined on Blue Star Mystic (Mystician, 1:55.2) for each of their firsts on the card. Crump’s triple was completed from there in consecutive fashion. Salary (Mystician, Logan Gillis) went last-to-first to win the third in 1:56, and Crazybeautifultome (Toucam Sam, 1:57.1) gave Crump his third and Kelly his second.
Kelly’s fifth race charge, Donoharm (Bettors Delight), held on by a head to score in 1:57.2. The reinsman then completed his grand slam aboard Myomylookatmefly (Lambretta) in the day’s fastest mile of 1:54, winning by four-and-a-half lengths.
Crump overtook Kelly for second place in the trainers’ standings with his performance. He has trained 26 winners at Century Downs this season. Kelly currently leads all drivers with 62 tallies.
The next card at Century Downs features four stakes finals. The $70,000 ASHA Filly Pace, $70,000 Century Casinos Pace, $91,920 Gord and Illa Rumpel Memorial, and $77,740 Ralph Klein Memorial will all be decided on Saturday, Aug. 13. First post is set for 2:15 p.m. ADT.
