Two runaway victories highlighted a Garrett Rooney grand slam on the Tuesday (Dec. 5) harness racing card at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
He opened his nightly account with back-to-back wins for trainer Kathryn Cochrane. Sweet Cheeseus (Betterthancheddar) went wire-to-wire for Rooney in the second with a time of 1:58.2. Betonbritt (Betterthancheddar) then took the reinsman for a ride in the second, streaking nine-and-a-quarter lengths clear in the final panel for a romp and new mark of 1:58.4. It was the three-year-old fillyās second win in three career starts.

Rooney returned to the winnerās circle in race six with Livin Large (Living It Up), who two-moved to victory by a length in 1:58.2. Lass Shot (Archangel) then put the exclamation mark on the four-win night as she stormed to an 11-and-a-quarter-length romp a race later. It was the seventh win of the season for the six-year-old mare owned, trained, and co-bred by Britt Kennedy.

Rooney has broken all of his personal bests this season with 1,213 starts, 242 wins, and $1,298,790 in earnings. The reinsman is also less than $5,000 away from the $8 million career earnings mark.
The Raceway at the Western Fair Districtās next program is pegged for Friday, Dec. 8 with a 5:50 p.m. EST start.
