Dabarndawgswatchin (Hes Watching) defeated triple O’Brien Award winner So Much More to win her first start of the year in an upper-level conditioned harness racing contest on Friday (Jan. 10) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Lee Loo (Doug McNair) struck first from post six, but Huntress (Bob McClure) pressed on to take control in a :27.3 first quarter. Dabarndawgswatchin sat fifth of six until Trevor Henry slid her out behind So Much More (James MacDonald) just before the half in :57.

The field raced three in, three out through the snow to three-quarters in 1:24.3, and Huntress brought them into the stretch. She was swamped in deep-stretch by Lee Loo and So Much More, the latter of which strode to the front, but Dabarndawgswatchin had the best late pace and rolled by them all to score by three-quarters-of-a-length in 1:52.4.

So Much More was second, followed by Glenboro (Travis Cullen).

DABARNDAWGSWATCHIN REPLAY

Dabarndawgswatchin, trained by Dave Menary, was five-for-23 last season and made the Breeders Crown final. She has amassed 26 career victories and $765,660 in earnings in 114 starts for owner/breeders Julia Ferguson and Lloyd Stone.

Woodbine Mohawk Park continues racing at 6:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 11. The card will feature a $36,000 Preferred.
