Dahlquist Hanover (Walner), who was winless in eight starts last year in Grand Circuit competition, is perfect through his first two starts this harness racing season with another convincing victory on Thursday (Apr. 27) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Dahlquist Hanover winning his second straight race

Trevor Henry dropped him in behind speedy longshot Belvedere Bronx (Dagfin Henriksen) for brief cover before commencing a circle to the front at the quarter in :28.1. Dahlquist Hanover cruised to the half in :58.1 and three-quarters in 1:28 with no opposition.

The gelding rounded the final turn in control and left his rivals behind. He sailed away to a four-length lead and completed the win with a  three-and-three-quarter-length margin in 1:55.4.

Raisealittlehill (Tyler Jones) finished second. Devereux Seelster (James MacDonald) recovered from a first-quarter break to finish third.

DAHLQUIST HANOVER REPLAY

Dahlquist Hanover’s clocking was a second better than his maiden-breaking score a week prior. He finished second in one leg of the Kindergarten Series and made two stakes finals last season at two but was zero-for-eight. He resumed this season in Ontario for trainer Desiree Jones. The three-year-old gelding has earned $37,920 in 10 outings for Gino Toscani of Mount Hope.

The next card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, Apr. 28 will feature the third leg of the Ontario-sired Graduate Series for open trotters and pacing mares.
