Darbyshire (Muscle Mass) bounced back from a poor seasonal debut with a big harness racing win at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (May 4) and took a new career mark.
The gelding glided to the lead on the damp track and completed the quarter in :28. He put three lengths between him and the field by the half in :58.2 and doubled the advantage by three-quarters in 1:26.1. No action was required by James MacDonald down the stretch as Darbyshire strolled to the finish to win in 1:54.4. The Great Reset (Lorne House) was second. Overpayment (Doug McNair) nabbed Warrawee Yang (Bob McClure) late for show.

Darbyshire, an Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots contender last year, has six wins in 10 lifetime starts and a bankroll of $55,900. He finished eighth in his 2023 debut on Apr. 24. Matt Bax trains the sophomore for Bax Stable of Campbellville, Glengate Farms of Erin, Goin To The Show Stable of Peterborough, and Happy Trails Stables of London.
Driver Jody Jamieson won his final four drives of the night for a natural grand slam. The experienced reinsman claimed victory with Passarino (Lookslikeachpndale, 1:55.2), Inn At Rodanthe (Cantab Hall, 1:56), Climb The Pole (Kadabra, 1:56.1), and Mach Impact (Mach Three, 1:53.4). The win with Passarino was the coltās first lifetime ā he raced all 10 starts in stakes competition last year at two but was winless with two seconds and $79,901 in earnings.
The upcoming card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (May 5) features a $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred-2. First post is set for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
