SUMMERSIDE, PE – A mad dash to the wire found two pacers hitting the finish in unison in the featured event Sunday afternoon at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Nogreatmischief and Czar Seelster hit the line in a dead heat for win in 1:57 in the $2,800 Preferred 2 pace. Adkins Hanover (Driven by Ambyr Campbell) cut out the first three fractions of 28.4, 58.1 and 1:27.3 but gave way in the stretch drive as Czar Seelster came first over and Nogreatmischief went up the passing lane.
Walter Cheverie trains and drives Nogreatmischief and is also the co-owner along with Brian Thompson of Charlottetown while Mike McGuigan supplied the steer behind Czar Seelster for trainer Todd Weatherbee and owner Tammy Johnston of Stratford.
Third place went to Mantario (Alex Sobey).
Red Magician rode the pocket to victory in the $2,400 back-up pace with Adam Merner at the lines for trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale. The nine-year-old pacer stopped the clock in 1:55.2 over pacesetter Dangle Ona Dime (Corey MacPherson) and third place Varadero Hanover (Ken Murphy).
