Delgado (Trixton) handily defeated his harness racing opponents for a second straight week on Tuesday (Jan. 16) as he stepped up to the Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Scott Young sent the gelding on a front-end mission and took over on the turn but let Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) go by to set the quarter time of :29. Young quickly put Delgado back on top before the second bend and rated him to the half in 1:00.
Saulsgood (Tyler Borth) moved out of fifth as the field curved towards the stands and joined the leader at the entry to the third turn. Delgado held him a length in arrears to three-quarters in 1:30.1, and the leader grabbed a couple lengths on the final bend. Delgado added to his margin coming down the stretch and cruised through the finish for a 2:01.2 victory in -14Ā°C conditions.
Saulsgood earned the place cheque. Arrakis (Trevor Henry) took third.
DELGADO REPLAY

Delgado has won eight of 54 lifetime appearances and has earned $216,785.
So Frisky (Dali) took the co-featured Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace in similarly decisive fashion. The eight-year-old cut the mile for Colin Kelly and paced her first victory of the year in 1:59.2. The David Daigneault-trained mare has won 39 of her 136 career starts and has amassed a bankroll of $311,003. She had nine wins from 32 tries last year and finished fifth in Londonās Forest City Pace. Luc Ouellette of Campbellville owns and co-bred the mare.
