SUMMERSIDE, PE – Harness racing driver David Dowling will look to close the gap in the driver’s standings Wednesday evening (Oct. 12) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway with four programs left to go on the season.
The Western track has 10-race scheduled for a 6 P.M. opening post time on Wednesday with the preferred pace lining up in race 9 for a $3,300 pot.
Dowling picks up the catch drive aboard His Boy Elroy (Jeremes Jet) from post 4 in the top class after Red Shores Summerside leading driver Ken Murphy won with the Phil Sizer trained pacer last week in a 1:56.1 feature score.
The 10-year-old celebrated his 32nd lifetime win that day for owners Doug Polley and Gordon McComb and will try for another as Dowling is two wins back of Murphy in the driving standings. Murphy will drove post 5 entry Dylan Sam (Sweet Lou) from the Allan Gregory stable after claiming the back-up class in his latest outings.
Heart And Soul (Western Paradise, Jason Hughes) has the rail while Dale Spence picks up the call aboard post 2 entry Woodmere Ideal Art (Articulator). Nogreatmischief (Bettors Delight) comes to play every week and leaves from post 3 on Wednesday for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie. Rounding out the field is the morning line favourite, Screen Test (Vertical Horizon, Corey MacPherson), from the outside post 6.
The Backstretch Beat sees His Boy Elroy returning to the Red Shores Summerside winner’s circle.
“His Boy Elroy has been excellent for the past six weeks and if you need more proof take a look at the chart lines. Moves to the middle and Dowling jumps up so they could get the gold again.”
Race 5 will see Wickedly Sinful attempt to win her third straight as the two-year-old daughter of McWicked remains undefeated since coming East. Taylor Doyle trains and drives the post 1 starter for owner Robin Lajeunesse of Summerside.
