Drawn Impression (Muscle Hill) blasted to the front in the stretch with eye-catching speed and coasted to a harness racing victory in the $425,000 Peaceful Way on Saturday (Aug. 26) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
She showed little early hustle for Louis-Philippe Roy, sliding into the six-hole as action up front provided :27.3 and :56.2 first-half fractions. Drawn Impression left the cones heading for the far turn and swung for home third-over, holding position through three-quarters in 1:26.
Roy gave her the green light as they straightened for home, and the filly exploded nearing the eighth pole. She went from fifth to first in a flash and soared home to a four-and-a-half-length romp in 1:54.
Willys Home Run (James MacDonald) rolled up late for place in a blanket finish. Graceful Design (Andy McCarthy) completed the ticket.
āEvery time she convinces me a little bit more, and tonight it just looked like she was in her own league,ā said Roy in his post-race interview. āI donāt think anyone could get her beat. I was just very lucky to sit behind her. She can drive herself. I knew she was doing good speed there. Once I was able to have her sitting third over there in the last turn, I was really confident with her that she would win.ā
DRAWN IMPRESSION REPLAY
Drawn Impression is now three-for-three following a debut win in an overnight event and taking her elimination. Luc Blais trains the Determination homebred, the first foal of the world-record-setting mare Emoticon Hanover.
āItās an amazing feeling tonight,ā said Blais. āHer mother was an amazing mare and when you see the filly go like this, itās an amazing feeling.ā
