CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – It was a milestone moment in the Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace for Dreamfair Zenfire (Sunfire Blue Chip) as she captured her 50th harness racing win Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Marc Campbell sent his charge to the lead in the $3,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace and controlled the tempo through splits of 28.4, 58, 1:27.1 and 1:55 to win by one-and-a-half lengths over Acefortyfour Dome (Driven by Jason Hughes) and Share The Moment (Gilles Barrieau). Campbell trains the winning mare for Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris.

Rookie trainer Luke Burke visited the winner’s circle for the first time as a trainer in the race 5 Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference pace with Elm Grove Penney (Stonebridge Terror, Adam Merner) stopping the clock in 1:58.1 for the career moment.

Labero won the featured $2,900 trot in 1:59.1 at 5-1 odds for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Randy Van Meer and owner Donna Van Meer of Mount Herbert. It was one of three wins for MacPherson as he also clicked with Striking Pride (1:59.1) in race 8 for trainer Paul Morrison and Maggiesdelight (1:56.1) from the Michelle Myers barn.

Hughes had a training double winning with newcomer Sugar Bowl (1:56) in race 1 and Saulsbrook Honey (1:57.2) for a maiden breaking score in race 3.

Melissa Rennie delivered a training double as Lil Reeses Pieces (1:58.3) won her second straight in race 2 and Georgia Thompson (1:55.4) won race 4, both in line to Merner to give him the triple.

Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6 P.M. at Red Shores Charlottetown.
