Two-time Ontario Sires Stakes champion Fashion Frenzie (Archangel) added a third victory to his perfect four-year-old season with a six-length romp in the $33,000 Open Handicap Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jul. 25).

Fashion Frenzie jogs in the Open Handicap

Fashion Frenzie, well-liked by the public at 1/5, worked past Pikachu Hanover (James MacDonald) in a first-quarter climb to the front in :27.2. Louis-Philippe Roy guided Fashion Frenzie to unpressured :55.4 and 1:23.4 middle splits, and the gelding uncorked his pent up trot in the stretch to score in a career-best 1:51.2. Logan Park (Sylvain Filion) nabbed place late from Pikachu Hanover.

FASHION FRENZIE REPLAY

The Richard Moreau-trained Fashion Frenzie has won two Open Handicaps in a row and is unbeaten through three this season. He is 14-for-22 lifetime with $778,435 in earnings. Becancour-based owners Ecurie Francis Richard, Pierre Guillemette, and Sylvain Richard share ownership with Mario Bourgea of Stanbridge East.

Also on the card, Bettors Delight filly Savethelastdance backed up her debut victory in the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots with a convincing four-and-a-quarter-length score. She was timed in 1:54.2, a new mark, while beating fellow previous Grassroots participants. Cheese So Pretty (Betterthancheddar, Filion) finished second, a half length better than Prove Em Wrong (Betterthancheddar, Jonathan Drury).

SAVETHELASTDANCE REPLAY

The winning filly, trained by Nick Gallucci for owner/breeder Millar Farms, is a full sister to Ontario star Silver Label.

Bettors Punch (Bettors Delight) took the other contest for two-year-old fillies who have started in the Grassroots in 1:55.1. Drury drove the Robert Fellows trainee to a two-and-a-quarter-length win over Canada First Lady (Artspeak, Filion) and Sunburnt (Sunshine Beach, Phil Hudon).

BETTORS PUNCH REPLAY

Bettors Punch is now one-for-two lifetime after a fifth-place finish in the Grassroots on Jul. 16. The Xfactor Stable of Georgetown owns the filly out of Somebeachsomewhere dam Modena Hanover.

Live racing resumes at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday, Jul. 26 with two divisions of the Whenuwishuponastar first leg for two-year-old pacing fillies. The card begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
