Fashion Frenzie reaches seven figures

Fashion Frenzie (Archangel) passed $1 million in career harness racing earnings on Monday (Aug. 7) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a victory in the $42,000 Free For All Handicap Trot.

Heading wide into the first turn, the gelding stayed parked out for Louis-Philippe Roy to the quarter in :26.3 and rolled up to take command on the backstretch. The field remained single-file to the half in :56.1 until Pemberton (Trevor Henry) made the first move down the backstretch.

Pemberton moved into striking distance at three-quarters in 1:24.1, but Fashion Frenzie turned him away as they came down the stretch. With Adare Castle (James MacDonald) in tow from the pocket, Fashion Frenzie sped home to comfortably reach $1 million in earnings by two-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:51.4.

Perfetto (Dagfin Henriksen) closed late and caught Adare Castle for second.

FASHION FRENZIE REPLAY

Fashion Frenzie has won 20 of his 32 starts on his journey to seven figures. The gelding, trained by Richard Moreau, has now earned $1,017,431. The double Ontario Sires Stakes champion is owned by Ecurie Francis Richard, Pierre Guillemette, and Sylvain Richard of Becancour and Mario Bourgea of Stanbridge East. He is two-for-four this season with two place finishes.

The card also hosted three divisions of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots third leg for two-year-old trotting fillies. Rhythm Of Life (Muscle Mass, MacDonald) motored home off second-over cover to take the first division in 1:57.2. Kinnder Hotblood (Kadabra, Matt Bax) circled from eighth for a second-division upset at 13-1, winning by three-quarters-of-a-length in 1:59. R Liza (Muscle Mass, Jody Jamieson) was best in the last leg, scoring off a backstretch brush in 1:57.1. She held off the late-surging P L Rachel (Bob McClure), who kicked home in :27.2 at 39-1. The fourth Grassroots leg for rookie filly trotters is set for Sep. 2 at Hiawatha Horse Park.

Woodbine Mohawk Park will continue racing on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
