Fashion Frenzie (Archangel) showed the way in the $58,500 Open Handicap on Monday (Oct. 10) at Woodbine Mohawk Park for his fifth straight harness racing win at the level.
Off at 6/5 from post nine, the gelding glided forward into the first turn and swept past Forbidden Trade (Bob McClure) to take the lead before the quarter-mile marker in :27.2. Fashion Frenzie controlled the tempo through :56.1 and 1:25.1 middle panels and entered the stretch with Forbidden Trade on his heels.
Fashion Frenzie proved stronger on the night. He kicked away by two lengths as his rival gave chase, and he stopped the clock in 1:52.3 for the victory.
Forbidden Trade was two lengths back in second. White Tiger (James MacDonald) finished third.

Fashion Frenzie, trained by Richard Moreau, has won his past five Open Handicap tries in a row. He also won the Earl Rowe Memorial and finished fourth in the Maple Leaf Trot in the middle of those five starts. The four-year-old former Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final champion is 18-for-27 with $947,831 in earnings.
Woodbine Mohawk Park has now dropped its Tuesday dates and will race next on Thursday, Oct. 13. The first leg of the Harvest Series highlights the 11-race program.
