Field drawn for $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer final

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After a dominating harness racing performance in Gold Cup and Saucer Trial 2, Sintra (Mach Three) has drawn post 9 for the $100,000 final set for Saturday evening (Aug. 20) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The draw for the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer final, presented by Atlantic Lottery Corporation, took place during the Tuesday program at the capital oval. The posts for the nine-horse final were drawn by the Gold Cup and Saucer Ambassadors while being officiated by the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission with morning line favourite Sintra drawing the second-tier post 9 for trainer Jamie Smith.

Trial 1 winner Ideal Perception (American Ideal) will leave from post 3 while Trial 3 winner Patrikthepiranha A (Four Starzzz Shark) has post 2. Driver’s will be finalized during the complete program draw on Wednesday.

Also announced on the Tuesday draw, Warren Ellis and family of Summerside Chrysler Dodge is sponsoring the Smash The Track Record promotion with an extra $10,000 divided among the field if they break YS Lotus’ 1:50.1 track record in the process. The winner will receive $5000, second place finisher will receive $1,500 and rest of the field being paid $500.
