Starbets (All Bets Off) made the move from London to Woodbine Mohawk Park and got up by a neck to stun the harness racing betting public at 47-1 on Thursday (Mar. 2).
Scott Young guided the filly to the unexpected win. The driver kept her in from the three hole and was stuck on the pylons as the field moved through three-quarters. Young found a seam and delivered her daylight at the top of the lane, and the filly charged relentlessly down the stretch to catch No Money Honey (Tyler Jones) at the wire to win in 1:56.3. Wildcat Hera closed for third.
STARBETS REPLAY
It was the second career win for Starbets, who broke her maiden in her last outing on Feb. 21 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District. Peter Core trains the homebred three-year-old for Donald and Heather McGregor of Camlachie.
The Friday offering at Woodbine Mohawk Park will feature a $30,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 2. Racing will begin at 7:00 p.m. EST.
