Serge Masse recorded his first harness racing win since 2020 as he trained and drove Century Mach (Jk Royal Flush) to victory at Century Downs on Friday (Jun. 5).
Masse sent her on a front-end mission and oversaw a wire-to-wire effort timed in 1:54.2. In the stretch, she rebuffed B On The Hunt (Brandon Campbell), who finished third behind Senga Nightmare (Ryan Grundy).
CENTURY MACH REPLAY
Masse returned to training and driving when he claimed Century Mach two weeks ago. āThe Magician,ā as he is known, had made no starts since June 2021 and hadnāt won since guiding Da Magic Coco to victory in October 2020. A Western Canada icon, Masse has won 3,091 career races and racked up more than $13 million in earnings as a driver with 2,072 wins and $9 million in earnings on the training side. He made more than 100 starts in every season from 1982 to 2019 and has recorded 11 seasons with triple-digit wins.
Century Mach, who typically races in the upper echelons of the overnight class ladder, is now three-for-14 on the season and 30-for-110 lifetime. The six-year-old has earned $221,143.
Racing continues at Century Downs on Saturday, Jul. 6 with a card featuring eliminations for the Alberta Sires Stakes Marquis and Maverick. First post will be 12:45 p.m. MDT.
