Former Grand Circuit colt takes new mark

Flight Landing (Tactical Landing), who finished third in the Bluegrass and International Stallion at two, scored his first victory at three on Thursday (Jun. 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a lifetime-best harness racing performance.

He sat the three-hole until Tyler Jones slid him off the cones approaching three-quarters. Flight Landing rolled to the front by mid-stretch and drew clear by a length-and-a-half for the 1:53.4 victory. Craigieburn (Louis-Philippe Roy) made ground late for place. The Canam Banker (Tyler Borth) was third. The winner went off at 12-1.

FLIGHT LANDING REPLAY

Flight Landing is now two-for-11 with $53,130 in earnings. The colt finished sixth in his seasonal debut on May 12 and was a closing fourth in last week’s start. The Dustin Jones trainee also reached the final of the Millard Farms as a freshman. Dustin Jones Stables and Herbert Horses co-bred Flight Landing and share ownership with Jean Pierre Barjon.

Roy won four of the night’s 10 races.
