Dahlquist Hanover (Walner) made it back-to-back wins since stepping up to the Preferred ranks with another harness racing victory on Thursday (Dec. 20) at Flamboro Downs.
The sophomore gelding had a long road to the top, moving out of fourth after the quarter in :27.3 to advance on Flamboro powerhouse Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald). Dahlquist Hanover pushed first-over through the half in :57 for Travis Cullen and dug into the leader as they raced onto the backstretch.
Dahlquist Hanover battled tooth-and-nail with Power And Grace through three-quarters in 1:25.4 and began to edge clear as they turned for the stretch. Dahlquist Hanover entered the lane with a one-length cushion and drew two-and-three-quarter lengths clear to score in 1:56.
Power And Grace refused to quit and held second. Marvin Hagler (J. Bradley Harris) took third after passing Rosies War Bonds (Ed Hensley) late.
