Four-year-old breaks maiden in 31st start

Fashion Contender (Father Patrick) made his maiden trip to the winner’s circle on Thursday (Oct. 10) at Woodbine Mohawk Park after 31 lifetime starts.

The four-year-old showed speed from the nine hole for Trevor Henry to secure the lead before the quarter in :28.2. Ma Isabelle (Sylvain Filion) swept by on the backstretch and led through middle fractions of :58 and 1:28 with Fashion Contender sitting the pocket. He came out in the stretch and chased down Ma Isabelle, drawing away late to score by two lengths in 1:56.4. Ma Isabelle was second. Wheelin My Bentley (Tyler Borth) completed the ticket.
