Harness racing is going on in both Alberta and British Columbia on Friday (Apr. 19).
Things first get kicked off at Century Downs and they start with the Pick 5 right in the first race. The last leg of the wager is the fifth race and one mare to keep an eye in that field is Bearcat Abigail (Mystery Chase). She has already made eight starts this year and has finished in the top three on five occasions. She has also picked up two wins already in 2024 and the latest came last week. She paced a solid 1:57 mile and led for most of the race. Mike Hennessy was in the bike last time out and will jump back in on Friday. Rebecca Kanak trains the seven-year-old mare.
BEARCAT ABIGAIL REPLAY
The $1 minimum Pick 4 starts in the Filly & Mare Preferred which is the sixth race. After winning back-to-back races, Outlaw Sharktastic (Smart Shark) was assigned post seven. She has won in 1:55 and 1:55.3 respectfully and has led wire-to-wire in both dashes. The post position shouldn’t be an issue for the six-year-old mare. Nathan Sobey trains and will be in the sulky.
OUTLAW SHARKTASTIC REPLAY
Myomylookatmefly (Lambretta) is another mare looking to win her third race in a row on Friday. She has had an impressive 2024 as she has made six appearances and has four of them. She also finished second place in the other two starts. Her last win was in 1:57.2 and just won by a nose. Brinsley Lutz Brooking trains the Manitoba-bred pacer and David Kelly will be in the bike.

Fraser Downs has a 10-dash card Friday evening with two separate Pick 4’s. The first starts in the second while the late wager starts in race seven.
The Kelly Hoerdt-trained Light My Shadow (Shadow Play) is looking to extend her winning streak to three in the fourth race. Both of her prior wins were paced in 1:54.2. She has only finished outside the top three once in 11 appearances this year.
LIGHT MY SHADOW REPLAY
Sunshine Boy (Sunshine Beach) will look to extend his dominance in the Preferred Pace. He has booked five trips to the winner’s circle this year in eight starts. He also had never finished worse than second this year and all his starts have been in the top class. The six-year-old gelding earned a new lifetime mark of 1:51.2 in February. His prior win was a huge wire-to-wire effort and won in 1:52.
SUNSHINE BOY REPLAY
Another Kelly Hoerdt trains pacer, Joe Dimagio (Custard The Dragon) has found his form since returning from southern Ontario. He has won back-to-back races and the latest was timed in 1:53.3. He tries to make in three in a row in the ninth race.
