Western Canadian harness racing continues at both Century Downs and Fraser Downs on Friday (Apr. 26).
Things first kick off in Alberta at Century Downs with a 10-dash card. The featured race is the $25,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred in the seventh. There is also a Pick 5 wager that starts in the first race. The $1 minimum Pick 4 starts in the seventh and runs right to the end of the card.
Military Man (Heston Blue Chip) is looking to extend his win streak to three in the fifth race and the last leg of the pick 5.
The five-year-old gelding has won three of his five starts this year. His achieved a new lifetime mark of 1:55.4 in his last start.Ā Gregory Manning trains the pacer and Doug Chappell will be in the bike.
MILITARY MAN REPLAY
The Brinsley Brooking Lutz trained, Myomylookatmefly (Lambretta) has nearly been perfect this year. She has won five of her seven 2024 starts and has yet to finish worse than second. The eight-year-old mare likes to win wire-to-wire and has been able to do it from any post position. David Kelly will be in the sulky.
MYOMYLOOKATMEFLY REPLAY
The favourite in the seventh race is Outlaw Blue Isle (Blue Burner) and deservedly so. She has only two starts this year and both have been in the Fillies & Mares Preferred. The six-year-old has a win and a second place finish and nearly matched her lifetime mark 0f 1:54.2 her last time out. David Kelly trains and will be in charge of driving duties.
OUTLAW BLUE ISLE REPLAY
Outlaw Spiced Rum (Blue Burner) is another mare that has been tough to beat as of late. The six-year-old has won four of her last five starts and has a second place finish mixed in. Her last win was paced in 1:55.3 which is only two-fifths of a second off her lifetime mark. Travis Ellis trains and Mike Hennesssy will be in the bike.

Another 10-dashes are on the program Friday night at Fraser Downs. The early Pick 4 wager starts in the second race while the late Pick 4 beings in the seventh. The $50,000 Raymond Gemmill Memorial for three-year-old colts is in the sixth race and the Penny Bath forĀ three-year-old fillies is the eighth race.
The $10,000 Preferred is in the fourth race and Sunshine Boy (Sunshine Beach) is looking to extend his win streak to three. He has also won six of his nine starts this year and has never finished worse than second place. The six-year-old gelding has been one of the toughest horses to beat in the top class. Jim Marino trains the pacer and Scott Knight is scheduled to be in the bike.
SUNSHINE BOY REPLAY
Armycaptin Hanover (Captaintreacherous) served Sunshine Boy his last loss. The eight-year-old gelding won on Apr. 5 in 1:52.3 and it was his 6th win of the year. Phillip Giesbrecht makes the trip west and will be in the bike for Rod Therres.
ARMYCAPTIN HANOVER REPLAY
Light My Shadow (Shadow Play) has been finishing near the top all year. In 12 starts, he only finished outside the top three once and has won six times. He achieved a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2 in his last start. Kelly Hoerdt trains and will be in the bike.
LIGHT MY SHADOW REPLAY
The reigning two-year-old BC Bred Stakes Final winner, Over Ice (Custard The Dragon) is making her 2024 debut in the Penny Bath Memorial. She is a perfect five-for-five in her career and has a lifetime mark of 1:54.1 which was in the BC Bred Finals. Jim Marino trains the filly and Scott Knight will be in the bike
OVER ICE REPLAY
Over Ice will have to face off against the morning line favorite,Ā Kootney Cocoa (Beren Hanover). Kootney Cocoa has won 10 races in 11 career starts and has finished second place once. This is a heavyweight battle in the that we could see all year long. The Kyle Chadwick trained filly won her last start in 1:53.2 which was good enough for a new lifetime mark.
