CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The horse may be No Plan Intended (Up The Credit) but driver Jason Hughes had a plan as he sent the harness racing pacer to victory in the Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22) top class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Leaving from post 5 in the $3,500 Preferred pace, No Plan Intended was hustled off the wings and cleared past the opening quarter of 28 seconds then drove away with every station through fractions of 56.3, 1:25.4 and 1:53.4. Navalny (Adam Merner) was second best while raced timed in 1:54.2 ahead of Fern Hill General (Brodie MacPhee).
The winner hails from the Jennifer Doyle stable with the trainer sharing ownership with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe. The victory was one of two on the day for Doyle with Mantario (David Dowling) winning the afternoon finale in 1:56.1.
Race 10 was In Memory Of Jerome Campbell with Acrobat Hanover delivering as the heavy favourite in 1:54.2 for driver Marc Campbell, trainer and co-owner Lenny Myers and co-owners Liam and Matty Myers and Robin Lajeunesse.
Campbell had four winners on the day as he widens his dash title lead for the 13th straight season. The Orwell driver won with Fern Hill Gusto (1:55.4) and Nibbler (2:01.2) from his own stable and with Zack The Men for trainer Mike MacDonald of Vernon Bridge.
