Two sophomore harness racing geldings, Four Finger Floyd and Docs Bull Market, earned their first lifetime victories over a sloppy surface on Wednesday at Georgian Downs.
Four Finger Floyd, who made the race as an also eligible, circled three-wide from fifth on the final turn in the opener, captured the lead at headstretch, and denied a charging rival to take the victory in 1:55.1.
FOUR FINGER FLOYD REPLAY
Austin Sorrie drove Four Finger Floyd to victory for trainer, co-owner, and co-breeder Murray Brethour. Kevin McKinlay of Holland Landing and Martin Van Beek of Newmarket share ownership in the son of Sportswriter. Four Finger Floyd debuted on Mar. 29 and hit the board once in five starts before the Aug. 10 win.
Docs Bull Market sat third through the first half, shifted to the outside on the backstretch, and prevailed from a three-horse duel for a 2:00.1 score.
DOCS BULL MARKET REPLAY
The son of Crazed broke his maiden, paying $27.40, after finishing no better than fifth and no closer than six and a half lengths in his first four attempts. Travis Cullen took the lines in the victory, the fifth different driver to sit behind the horse since his debut on Jul. 4. Keith Jones trains Docs Bull Market for Douglas McCarthy of Holland Landing, who purchased the horse for $23,000 from the Lexington Select sale.
Georgian Downs returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 14.
