Two days prior to the Sunday, August 29th harness racing card at Clinton Raceway, the lineup for the 41st Annual Charity Drivers Challenge was announced. Natasha Day, the Ontario Womenās Driving Champion, was among outstanding drivers selected to compete, but was currently ranked 4th in the Clinton Drivers Standings.
This was no longer the case after this Sundayās racecard, as Day captured a natural grand slam by winning the last four races on the card. The four-win day propelled Day to number one in the Clinton Drivers Standings. She kicked off her winning ways by guiding 4-year-old mare Mach Mine Blue to the winner circle for local trainer Pat Bissett. 2-year-old gelding Shanghai Ky came from off the pace to upset the heavy favourite for Dayās second win of the day, before capturing the late double with 3-year-old colt Sports Zipper and 5-year-old mare Chocolatemilktoast.Ā
Post time for the 41st annual Charity Driverās Challenge on Sunday, Sept. 5 is 1:30 pm. In addition to the eight driverās challenge races, Clinton Raceway will also host the fourth Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Leg for the two-year-old pacing colts.
