A month off was no problem for Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip), who piled up a fourth straight harness racing score in the Fillies and Mares Preferred on Friday (Sep. 27) at Century Mile.
Saddled with a post eight draw, she dropped back to sixth for Dave Kelly but never saw the pylons, and she drove on after the quarter in :28.2 to take the lead on the backstretch. She cut a half of :57 and three-quarters of 1:25.2 with the first-over Goodbye Ceia Later (Mike Hennessy) unable to truly threaten. Stash The Cookies led into the stretch and neutralized pocket-sitter If Only Id Known (Kelly Hoerdt) to win by two lengths in 1:54.1. Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey) was a closing third.
STASH THE COOKIES REPLAY
Stash The Cookies is now seven-for-nine this season for trainer John Chappell. She won three straight Preferreds at Century Downs but was off four weeks before resuming at Century Mile on Friday. The eight-year-old mare has won 37 of 109 career outings and has earned $374,734. Derek Gilbert owns her.
Brandon Campbell and Logan Gillis both drove three winners on the day. Two of Campbellās wins were his trainees.
The next card at Century Downs is set for Saturday, Sep. 28 with a first post of 1:15 p.m. MDT. It is headlined by Shark Week in the Preferred Pace.
