The Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings continued at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (Jun. 18) with four harness racing divisions.
Lakers Bank (All Bets Off, Travis Cullen) battled with Sports Activator (Louis-Philippe Roy) down the stretch and got past him by a half-length to win the first division in 1:52.1. Tamworth Boy (Jody Jamieson) finished third.
LAKERS BANK REPLAY
Lakers Bank is two-for-two in the Grassroots and has won four of his six starts in his debut season. His clocking was good for a new lifetime-best. Tim Myers trains the gelding for Vel Spar Stables of West Hill.
Century Komodo (Bettors Delight, Doug McNair) out-dueled Chalk Hanover (James MacDonald) to capture the second split in 1:51. Wild Doc Holliday (Trevor Henry) completed the ticket.
CENTURY KOMODO REPLAY
It was Century Komodo’s second career win and first in the Grassroots. The gelding, who moved to Anthony Beaton’s before his most recent start, has earned $36,290 in 13 career lifetime appearances. Domenic Chiaravalle of Hamilton, Gary Volpe of St. Thomas, and Cantucky Farm of Jarvis own Century Komodo.
Always A Thrill (Bettors Delight, MacDonald) took the third division, opening up a big lead on the far turn and cruising to a length-and-three-quarter victory in 1:50.3. Chesterman (Henry) and T H McMurry (Roy).
ALWAYS A THRILL REPLAY
Always A Thrill has now won four of 15 lifetime starts with $111,208 in earnings. The Bob McIntosh-trained gelding also recorded his first Ontario Sires Stakes score with the win for Robert Mcintosh Stables of Windsor, Tyrone Valley Farm of Bowmanville, and Mardon Stables of Loretto.
Do Better (Bettors Delight) did better than his previous start, rebounding from a loss in the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes with a four-length victory in the fourth group. Price Control (Roy) held off Watching Sunset (Jamieson) for place.

McIntosh conditions Do Better, who won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold leg at two. The gelding is now seven-for-17 lifetime and has amassed a bankroll of $268,584. Robert Mcintosh Stables co-owns the three-year-old with Al Mcintosh Holdings of Leamington and Mardon Stables.
The next Grassroots round for three-year-old pacing males is scheduled for Jul. 19.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will resume racing on Thursday, Jun. 20 at 7:10 p.m. EDT.
