Resolve To Win (Resolve), who won two legs of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots last year, thundered to a big harness racing win on Thursday (May 11) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The gelding swung three-wide for Scott Young from fifth entering the final turn, accepted cover briefly while swinging for home, and blew by all of his rivals in a flash as he streaked away to a four-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:54.3. Lookslikeagoodfella (Pat Hudon) also came from the backfield and finished second. Whole Nother (Doug McNair) finished third.
RESOLVE TO WIN REPLAY
Resolve To Win tallied twice last season, both in the Grassroots, in eight starts. He also finished third in the Balanced Image final. He is now three-for-10 lifetime and has earned $50,264. Matt Bax trains the three-year-old for Bax Stable of Campbellville, Brad Grant of Milton, Gaelic Stable of Sharon, and Don Allensen of Wyoming (ON). With Ontario Sires Stakes season around the corner, itās a promising win for the gelding.
The Friday (May 12) card at Woodbine Mohawk Park features the SBOA Stakes eliminations for trotting colts and geldings. Two $25,000 groups will go to post for slots in the final. The first of 11 races will start at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
