Lakers Bank (All Bets Off), who won three Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots legs this season, took the conditioned co-feature at Flamboro Downs on Thursday (Oct. 23).
The three-year-old rookie got away third for Jason Ryan in a :27 first quarter and pulled out to begin a first-over march approaching the half in :56.4. Lakers Bank encroached upon leader Wilcat Rocky (J. Bradley Harris) on the backstretch, and the two battled through three-quarters in 1:25.
Lakers Bank seized control on the final turn, straightening for home with a length lead. With Wilcat Rocky defeated, no one else could touch Lakers Bank, who drove home to score by a length-and-three-quarters in 1:54.2.
Drinkin Buddy (Daryl Thiessen) closed for place over Wilcat Rocky.
