Trevor Henry grabbed second-over positioning for Grateful as the field moved through the third quarter and kept him rolling down the lane to bring down pacesetter Angelwithattitude (Bob McClure) and win going away by two-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:58. Angelwithattitude held on for place over Tijuana Seelster (Billy Davis Jr.).
GRATEFUL REPLAY
Grateful shipped in after breaking stride at The Meadows on Dec. 27. The four-year-old was a competitor on the Ohio fair circuit at two and three. He won one of 15 races last season, breaking in nine of them. Last trained by Keith Kash, Nathan Harding now handles Grateful for Trish Soulsby of Powell.
Crystal Baller (Muscle Mass), who was well back in all three Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots starts at two last year, also made it two-for-two this season with another narrow win. She launched first-over on the backstretch and completed her mission by mid-stretch. He then resisted the rush of Century Jaguar (Henry) to win the seventh race in 1:59.2. Crystal Baller, driven by Eddie Green and trained by Keelan Green for Celestey Hill of Ohsweken, has now earned $18,110.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will continue racing with an 11-race slate on Friday, Feb. 24 beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST.
