Grey Sea (Custard The Dragon), sent away at 10-1 odds, won her second straight harness racing feature in the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Fraser Downs on Thursday (Nov. 7).
The top free-for-alling mare repeated her tactics from two weeks ago, firing forward from post seven to take over at the quarter in :26.3 for John Abbott. She hit the midway point in :55.3 and took on the first-up Outlaw Allie Oops (Dave Hudon) to three-quarters in 1:23.3.
Grey Sea battled back that challenger going into the final turn, but Ima Beach Diva (Allan Molloy) and favourite Outlaw Spiced Rum (Rod Therres) made their charges down the stretch. Ima Beach Diva closed rapidly in the final meters, but Grey Sea dug deep and held on for a half-length victory in 1:53.4.
Ima Beach Diva pipped Outlaw Spiced Rum for place.
