Harness racing driver Trevor Henry doubled his 2025 tally with a five-win night at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jan. 14), highlighted by a Preferred Trot victory.
He circled the field with New Rules (Lookslikeachpndale) in the $36,000 feature. The gelding, trailing to the quarter in :28.1, left the pylons and flushed out cover on the backstretch. After the trackās top trotter, Amigo Volo (Doug McNair), sped away hit the top after the half in :57.2, New Rules had to do it the hard way. He marched first-up through three-quarters in 1:25.4 and rolled by Amigo Volo in the stretch, gliding to a two-and-a-quarter-length win in 1:54.2. Franks Angel (Tyler Borth) make up ground late and finished second. Amigo Volo completed the ticket.
NEW RULES REPLAY
It was New Rulesās first Preferred victory of his career, and it came in a class jump after winning a mid-level conditioned event a week ago. The 2023 Dream of Glory champ is an 18-time career winner with $318,862 in earnings from 58 starts. Dave Menary trains the five-year-old for Pollack Racing of Venetia.
Henry also won with B Stoney (Sunfire Blue Chip, 1:53.4), Crystal Baller (Muscle Mass, 1:55.1), Overthinking (Downbytheseaside, 1:54.4), and Kenogami Coco (Wheeling N Dealin, 1:58.4). The driver is now 10-for-63 in the new year, a strike rate of 15.9 per cent.
Woodbine Mohawk Park will host its next card on Thursday, Jan. 16. The 10-race card, beginning at 6:30 p.m., is headlined by the first leg of the Blizzard Series.
