Hang On Sloopy (Betterthancheddar) pulled off an 8-1 upset as she reached up in a harness racing photo finish in the Fillies and Mares Open at Fraser Downs on Thursday (Mar. 21).
Tyson Jacoby gave the mare a perfect pocket journey behind Hotpieceoface (Scott Knight). The latter put up panels of :27.3, :57.3, and 1:26.2. Hang On Sloopy came up the passing lane at the head of the stretch and nabbed Hotpieceoface at the line to score by a head in 1:55.2. Gin Is Better (Clinton Warrington) marched late past two horses to complete the ticket.

Hang On Sloopy has won 13 of 87 career starts and has raked in $122,027. She is a homebred for owners Reginald Wonnenberg and Gail Brassington. The six-year-old, trained by Wonnenberg, won her seasonal debut on Feb. 8 but missed the board in three starts between then and Thursdayās outing.
Fraser Downs will finish its race week on Friday, Sep. 22 with nine races on the night. The headliner is an Open in race eight.
