Of the nine horses in the fifth race $26,000 feature trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park Monday evening, four of them were Hanover Shoe Farm breds and you guessed it. They finished first through fourth in the race.

Pikachu Hanover (on the rail) just nips Derf Hanover at the wire

It was Free Willy Hanover (Jonathan Drury) first on the lead with 7/2 mild race favorite Derf Hanover (James MacDonald) taking the pocket seat to the opening quarter mile in :27.3.

Then Final Claim (Jody Jamieson) came first-over from third and flushed Derf Hanover from the pocket with Jamieson forced three-wide with Final Claim.

Once Derf Hanover cleared by Free Willy Hanover, then Final Claim and Jamieson made it to the front before the half mile in :56 seconds.

There was no real movement to the three-quarters in 1:24.2 as Final Claim still led the field. Then as they came down the stretch, Derf Hanover came after Final Claim, who had come off the rail. That allowed Pikachu Hanover and driver Trevor Henry, who was fifth along the rail, to shoot up the inside and nip Derf Hanover at the wire by a head in 1:53.

Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) closed well to be third and Free Willy Hanover completed the superfecta. There was also a late scratch from the race, it was Combs Hanover.

PIKACHU HANOVER REPLAY

It was the second win this year for Pikachu Hanover. The eight-year-old stallion by Andover Hall is trained by Gregg McNair for the High Stakes Stable, Inc. of Farmington Hill, Michigan. He paid $11.90 to win as the second choice in the race.

And as for the Hanover $1 Superfecta, well it paid $536.75.
