Harness News Update: Picks & Analysis for Century Downs June 21st

21 June 2024

An 11-dash card full of harness racing action is set for  Friday (June 21) at Century Downs. The notable wagers are the Pick 5, which kicks off the card in race one and the $1 minimum Pick 4 which starts in the eighth.

A free program can be found here.

The top fillies & mares will compete for $12,500 in the fourth race. The reigning Fillies & Mares champion, Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip) is looking to make it three wins in a row but has been assigned the outside post. However, with only a field of six, the eight-year-old mare should have no issues as she has even won recently from post seven. Stash The Cookies has never finished worse than second in three starts this year and her only lose came to Grey Sea who upset the field at 39-1. Since then, Stash The Cookies has yet to lose and has put up mile times of 1:54.1 and 1:55.4. John Chappell trains the mare and Brandon Campbell will be in the sulky on Friday.

STASH THE COOKIES REPLAY

The only horse to have beaten Stash The Cookies this year, Grey Sea (Custard The Dragon) will be looking to do it again along with Tyler Redwood in the bike. Redwood only has four drives this year and all of them have been with the five-year-old mare. After her 39-1 upset victory a few weeks ago, she followed that up with a fourth and then a second place last week. The betting public hasn’t been keen on her, but she has been finding a way to finish strong.
