An eight-dash card full of harness racing action is set for Friday (June 28) at Century Downs. The notable wagers are the Pick 5, which kicks off the card in race one and the $1 minimum Pick 4 which starts in the fourth.
A free program can beĀ found here.
Fillies and mares dominant the card and things heat up quickly in the second race. After taking a week off, Outlawguns N Roses (Captive Audience) returns to action. Sheās coming off her worst finish of the year which was still a second-place effort. Prior, she had won three in a row and even achieved a new lifetime mark of 1:52.4 in her last victory. Outlawguns N Roses has won seven times and has only finished outside the top three twice in 13 career starts. Both of those blemishes were in her first two career starts but she has been performing amazingly since. David Kelly will be in the sulky for trainer Rodney Starkewski.
OUTLAWGUNS N ROSE REPLAYĀ
One that may be able to play upset against Outlawguns N Roses is the five-year-old Skys Little Spunk (Armbro Baylor). The Manitoba-bred mare has won four races in a row which was kicked off by a career-best 1:54.1 win. Since then, she has continued to race 1:56.1 or better. Since joining Brandon Campbellās stable, things have turned around for her. Campbell will be in the bike behind Skys Little Spunk as they look to play upset early.
SKYS LITTLE SPUNK REPLAYĀ
Another battle between two ladies is brewing in the third race as the heavy morning line favourite, Over Ice (Custard The Dragon) returns from having over a month off. She only has one win this year but has never finished worse than second in her three starts. She has yet to finish worse than second in her entire career. Her lifetime mark of 1:53.3 came earlier this year in the ABSS Diamond eliminations. Brandon Campbell will see if he can get her back to her winning ways.
OVER ICE REPLAYĀ
However, if Over Ice wants to win, she will need to snap the four-race win streak of Outlaw Spiced Rum (Blue Burner). She has been consistently pacing miles at 1:56 or better during her last few starts. She will likely need to match or outdo her lifetime mark of 1:55 if she wants to win. Michael Hennessy will be in the sulky for trainer Travis Ellis.
OUTLAW SPICED RUM REPLAYĀ
The biggest battle of the day will come in the $25,000 Filly & Mares Preferred in the sixth race. Stash The Cookies (Sunfire Blue Chip) has won three in a row and has won five of her last six. Her fastest mile of the 2024 was a 1:54.1 effort in May but she has continued to pace similar times since. It has been tough to be the John Chappel-trained mare. Brandon Campbell will be in the bike teaming up with the eight-year-old.
STASH THE COOKIES REPLAYĀ
Grey Sea (Custard The Dragon) has been itching to get back into the winnerās circle after finishing second behind Stash The Cookie in back-to-back races. Her last win was on May 24 when she upset the Filly & Preferred at 39-1. It was her second win of the year, and she paced it in 1:55. The five-year-old grey mare will have Tyler Redwood in the bike once again.
