Harness News Update: Picks & Analysis for Century Downs May 17th

A big weekend of harness racing at Century Downs kicks off Friday (May 10) with an 11-dash program. As usual, the Pick 5 wager starts in the first race and runs to the fifth. The $1 minimum Pick 4 begins in the eighth and ends in the eleventh.

The top class of Fillies & Mares headlines the card and will take centre stage in the third race. A field of six will go to battle over $12,500 of prize money. The morning line favourite, In High Cotton (Somebeachsomewhere) opens at 3-2. It took her some time to find her form while racing at Fraser Downs but she ended the meet with four Preferred wins in five starts. It seemed to be an easy transition back to Century Downs as she won her first race back in 1:53.3. The six-year-old mare will be looking to capture her 26^th career win in his 98^th career start. Her trainer, Kelly Hoerdt will be in the sulky.

IN HIGH COTTON REPLAY

Later in the eighth race, Outlawabovenbeyond (Captive Audience) will be looking to remain perfect this year. She has five wins already this year and is coming off a big victory in the Bev Sears Memorial last time out. She won in 1:54.2 which is her fastest mile time of 2024. Outlawabovenbeyond likes to win in dominate wire-to-wire fashion so her drawing post position eight could be biggest hurdle of the year. However, its an obstacle reinsman, Michael Hennessy can surely overcome.
