An 11-dash harness racing card is set for Easter Sunday at Rideau Carleton Raceway. The Pick 5 starts in the fifth race and there are also four Pick 4’s spread throughout the card.
Race 1
Stomper Tom (5) ended 2023 with back-to-back wins. Qualified in 2:00 to prepare for his debut.
Capulet (3) only race experience has been two qualifying miles. His first was 2:01.2 at Woodbine Mohawk and 2:03.1 at Rideau Carleton.
Tymal Loverboy (1) had breaking issues and had to qualify twice. If stays flat, should be in the mix.
Race 2
Illicut Affair (5) came off a second-place finish last week and paced the mile in 1:58.3 which is one of the fastest recent miles in the field.
Matts Bank (4) finished third behind Illicit Affair last week.
Inukshuk Sally (3) qualified in 1:59.4 and if can repeat a similar time should be poised for a good finish.
Race 3
Howmac Victor (7) finished fourth in their 2024 debut but posted a 1:56.2 mile.
Allstar Cheddar (5) hasn’t raced since last August but looked good qualifying. Posted miles of 1:57.3 and 1:58.1.
Red Cape Party (1) comes from Woodbine Mohawk where he was able to go sub 1:55. The move to Rideau should help him.
Race 4
Arrhythmogenic (5) showed great speed last week with a 28.4 last quarter after being caught at the back.
De Chairman (6) led for most of the race last week but got caught late. Had a better post position last week but should still be in the mix.
Giddy Up Max (2) has 10 starts this year already but is yet to finish in the top three. The rail will hopefully help with that.
Race 5
Speaker Nancy (5) is coming off a big 1:55.4 win last week. Has a nice pocket trip and has shown she can come off the pace.
Ladycorona (6) coming off a 1:59.1 qualifying mile but has shown way more speed than last year. Could easily win if recaptures that form.
Going Yard (1) is coming off a disappointing seventh-place finish but has shown she can win if she gets to the front early and drawing the rail should help her.
Race 6
Raising Rusty (1) ended 2023 racing the Preferred class. Qualified in 2:00.2 which is competitive in this field.
Crossfit (2) finished second in 1:58.1 last week. If can repeat that level of performance, the eight-year-old gelding could win.
Msfrannie (6) coming from Woodbine Mohawk where she was pacing sub 1:59 times. The change of scenery could be what the mare needs.
Race 7
Xtra Cheese (5) faded last week but held on for a second. Still paced a decent 1:57.1 mile and closed the race with a 29.4 last quarter.
Skylar (7) finished second last week in 1:56.2 but was gifted the rail. This week will have to battle for position but still should be near the top.
Stonebridge Hermes (2) had a nice 1:56.3 mile last week but finished third in the effort. Another time like that will keep him in the mix
Race 8
Montysgonemarble (2) is coming from the Preferred class and should be the one to beat.
Saskabush Steve (3) finished second in 1:56.4 last week. That is one of the faster times recorded recently by this field.
Smilingbillythekid (6) qualified in 1:57.3 and could easily win with a mile time like that.
Race 9
Light The Torch (1) just lost last week after leading for the majority of the race. Still finished with a 28.1 last quarter and the mile time was 1:55.4.
Make It Come True (6) is coming off a win in 1:56.1. A repeat performance is needed to win.
Lets Get Pickled (7) just qualified in 1:58 but will need to shave a full second or two off to win.
Race 10
Sunny Bo (7) looked good last week in his second-place finish. Paced the mile in 1:56.2 which is the fastest recent time in the field.
Tahuya Brew (1) won last week after getting a nice pocket trip and finished the mile in 1:58. Could easily repeat after drawing the rail.
Western Phil (9) qualified at 1:58 and could be in the mix at a similar time.
Race 11
Beauty Is Bling (5) was scratched last week but looked good in her prior qualifier. She went 1:57.4.
Beach Journey (8) qualified in 1:57 but post position might make it hard to get the early lead.
Betterontheisland (4) qualified in a speedy 1:56.4 which should be good enough to beat this field. However, previous outings haven’t panned out well.
Pick 5 (Races 5-9)
