Harness News Update: Picks and analysis for Western Fair April 17

The Raceway at Western Fair District has a 11-dash harness racing card scheduled for Wednesday (Apr. 17). The feature race is the $11,600 Filly & Mare Preferred in the tenth. The morning line favourite at 8-5 is Exotic Dragon (Custard The Dragon) and she drew post position six. Her last win came on Apr. 2 and she paced the mile in 1:57.1. The six-year-old mare has six wins this year and 34 in her career. Jodie Cullen trains and Travis Cullen will be in the sulky at post time.

EXOTIC DRAGON REPLAY

The morning line favourite in the  first race, Maple Shadow (Shadow Play) is looking to go a perfect three-for-three in her career. The three-year-old filly won her racing debut in 1:58.4 and followed that up with a 1:59.3 win last time out. The Anita Oullette trained pacer opens at 8-5 odds as she makes her first start at Western Fair.

Betonbritt (Betterthancheddar) is looking to continue her dominance. The four-year-old mare has won seven of her 11 career appearances and she has never finished worse than second place. She won her last start in 1:57.2 which was good enough to be her new lifetime mark.
