Two-year-old fillies battled in three divisions of the Ontario-sired Harvest Series on Monday (Oct. 28) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Stormont Beautiful (Resolve, Brett MacDonald) won going away in the sole trot split to tally her third victory. The filly began a first-over march at the half, rolled alongside leader Debra (Bob McClure), and drew clear handily in the stretch to a three-and-three-quarter-length victory in 1:56.1. Debra finished second while Oceanview Rumours (James MacDonald) closed for third.
STORMONT BEAUTIFUL REPLAY
Stormont Beautiful is now three-for-six with $34,250 in earnings. Kevin Benn trains the homebred for Stormont Meadows of Long Sault.
Outtathisworld Deo (Bettors Delight, Louis-Philippe Roy) took the first pacing division in 1:54. The filly led early but was pocketed by Promising Moment (Tyler Borth) and took the pocket ride into the stretch. She found room in deep-stretch and powered up to catch the leader and claim a half-length victory. Sugar Pie Honey (MacDonald) was third.
OUTTATHISWORLD DEO REPLAY
Outtathisworld Deo, who finished third in leg one, has won twice in eight outings. The Chantal Mitchell-conditioned filly has earned $26,940 for owner/breeder Deo Volente Farms.
Roy also won the second pacing division, guiding Funny Business (Hes Watching) to a maiden-breaking victory. The filly circled the short field of five, firing into contention from last on the final turn and battling to the lead. She held off My Happy Place (McClure) by three-quarters-of-a-length to win in 1:55.2. Chillinonthebeach (Trevor Henry) completed the triactor.
FUNNY BUSINESS REPLAY
Funny Business was previously winless in 11 tries. She has earned $21,390 under the guidance of trainer Patrick Rouleau. The filly is owned by Busi Racing of Sault Ste Marie.
Amigo Volo (Father Patrick) dominated the nightās $36,000 Preferred Trot. He popped the pocket for James MacDonald to take over in the second quarter, and he kicked clear around the final turn before soaring clear by four-and-a-quarter lengths for the 1:50.4 victory.
Safe Conduct finished second over Fashion Frenzie (Roy).
AMIGO VOLO REPLAY
It was the fourth win in five starts for Amigo Volo, including a Winners-Open victory at Harrahās Philadelphia. Meg Crone trains the two-time Breeders Crown champion, who has won 41 of 107 career starts and has earned $2,632,252 for Pinske Stables and David Miller.
Racing continues at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7:10 p.m. with more Harvest Series action. The 10-race card will feature three divisions for two-year-old colts and geldings.
