Bruno No No No (All Bets Off) rallied from the back to break his maiden in the second harness racing division of the first leg of the Ontario-sired Harvest Series for two-year-old pacing males on Thursday (Oct. 24) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Seventh to three-quarters, the colt came off the pylons on the final turn and wound up from the backfield at the top of the lane. He unleashed a :27.4 closing kick for Bob McClure, roaring to the front and going clear to a two-and-a-half-length victory in 1:53.1. Wicked Storm closed (Jody Jamieson) was second with Connor B (Phil Hudon) closing for third.
BRUNO NO NO NO REPLAY
Bruno No No No was coming off a three-month layoff in Fridayās win. The colt broke in his first two starts in the summer, both against stakes competition. Gabriella Sasso trains the freshman for Jeff Courchesne, Martwest Racing Stable, and Tony Aarts.
Move Your Mass (Muscle Mass, McClure) took the first split, circling to the front on the final turn and cruising home to win by a length-and-three-quarters in 1:58.1. That Dude finished second, followed by Jayport Cash (Trevor Henry).
MOVE YOUR MASS REPLAY
The win was the fourth for Move Your Mass, who has now earned $33,280 for Mardon Stables. In his last six starts, he has won three and broke in the remainder. Ā Bruce MacDonald trains the gelding.
Merrow (Stag Party) got up in the final meters to snag the third split. The colt, locked in fourth coming down the stretch, found his way through traffic and hunted down Hp Bellissimo (Louis-Philippe Roy) to win by a neck in 1:54.1. Wicked Joules (Nick Boyd) closed for show.
MERROW REPLAY
Merrowās win was his second in nine starts in his rookie season. The coltās other success came in the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Ā in July. Donald Lindsey has trained Merrow to $37,340 in earnings for Suheil Ashkar.
The Harvest Series will continue on Oct. 28 with leg two for two-year-old fillies.
Woodbine Mohawk Park is scheduled to resume racing on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7:10 p.m. EDT. The 11-race card will feature a $36,000 Preferred-Handicap.
