The team of trainer Rodney Hennessy and driver Mike Hennessy captured both Preferred harness racing events at Century Downs on Saturday (Mar. 23) with one longshot and one odds-on favourite.
Goodbye Ceia Later (Vertical Horizon) came through for the duo at 10-1 in the Fillies and Mares Preferred. The mare charged from third on the outside down the stretch and rolled three-quarters-of-a-length clear to score in 1:58. The five-year-old, a homebred for Bryan Brook and Diane Hennessy, is now 12-for-70 lifetime with $107,287 earned.
GOODBYE CEIA LATER REPLAY
One race later, Wine Thirty (Vertical Horizon) flew off second-over cover, glided to the front in the final eighth of a mile, and opened up by two-and-three-quarter lengths in the 1:57 victory. Wine Thirty, owned and bred by Lorne Duffield, has now taken back-to-back wins after a 20-race losing streak. The five-year-old upped his career tally to 13 with the score and increased his bankroll to $96,091 in 65 starts.

Team Hennessy also combined to take the opener with Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville, 1:56.3), and Michael Hennessy had an independent driving win with Outlaw Spiced Rum (Blue Burner, 1:58.4). Michael Hennessy is 19-for-69 on the year, and Rodney Hennessy trainees have won six of 17 outings.
