SUMMERSIDE, PE – His Boy Elroy (Jeremes Jet) delivered on his post time promise as he made easy work of his Monday evening (Sep. 12) featured harness racing foes at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Corey MacPherson pointed his heavily favoured charge to the lead in the $3,000 featured pace and jogged through fractions of 28.4, 58 and 1:26.3 before closing out the mile in 1:55.
Phil Sizer trains the pacer for owners Doug Polley of Amherst, N.S., and Gordon McComb of Paris, Ont. Nogreatmischief (Walter Cheverie) was second ahead of Dylan Sam (Ken Murphy).
Trainer Jennifer Doyle scored a pair of wins on the night as Premier Joy A (Somebeachsomewhere) romped by eight-lengths in 1:56.3 in race 11 for driver David Dowling and Elm Grove Mistress won race 7 in 1:56.2 for driver Jason Hughes.
Race 3 was declared a no contest after post 3 starter Cheesethemaneevent (Rick Armstrong) made a break in stride in the first turn causing post 2 entry Quick Glance (Dowling) to make contact from behind and unseating both drivers.
Both horses walked away from the incident virtually unscathed while Dowling continued to drive the remainder of the program. Armstrong was taken to the Prince County Hospital for further evaluation but remained bright and in good spirits with a possible cracked rib.
