Trois-Rivières, Quebec – July 30, 2024 – The Quebec Jockey Club is proud to announce the appointment of Guillaume Cayer-Richard as the new harness racing Race Secretary at the Trois-Rivières Racecourse.
It is with great enthusiasm that the H3R team welcomes to the Racing Programming team, an external resource with extensive experience and a detailed knowledge of the needs of Quebec horsemen.
Guillaume has been working in the horse racing industry since 2015 as an owner-breeder in the Township of Cleveland in the Eastern Townships.
Very involved with Standardbred Canada, first as vice-president since February 2024, he has also been director and representative of the breeding portion since 2020 and president of the breeders’ committee since 2021.
Since April 2023, he has been the outgoing president of the Association Trot et Amble du Québec (ATAQ), a position he left last Saturday following the current appointment in order to avoid any conflict of interest.
At the same time, Guillaume has been the race director at Autodrome Drummond since this year and the general manager of the Grand Prix Ski Doo de Valcourt since 2021. In this capacity, he manages a team of several employees and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the Grand Prix while being responsible for the marketing of the event. There is no doubt that his expertise will also help us in the pursuit of our growth objectives.
Another key action in the revival of the horse racing industry in Quebec
This hiring is a continuation of the actions taken since the beginning of 2024.
In fact, in the interests of development, revival and unification of the Industry, several actions have been taken such as the revitalization of the racing calendar with the Regional Drivers’ Championship on June 2nd, the National Drivers’ Championship on July 5th, the return of the Prix d’Été after 4 years of absence on August 18th, the return of Passion Courses to the bosom of the Hippodrome 3R, the creation of the Trifecta show on RDS and the management of the Lucky Perfecta lottery in collaboration with the Circuit Régional des Courses de Chevaux du Québec (CRCCQ).
The QCJ is very pleased to have drafted such a credible, respected and appreciated person in the industry.
