CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Rock N Roll Cays (Tobago Cays) demolished the two-year-old pacing filly Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation as part of a Jeff Holmes training double on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Rock N Roll Cays came first-over in the $7,500 rookie lass consolation and paced away to a seven-length victory in 1:56.4 in line to Ken Murphy for trainer Holmes and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast. The filly pushed her bankroll to $27,022 on the season while setting a new career best. Woodmere Heather M (Driven by Brodie MacPhee) finished second ahead of Too Much For You (David Dowling).
ROCK N ROLL CAYS REPLAY
JK Pilot (Jk Endofanera) was the other Holmes winner in a 13-length victory in 1:55 for driver Corey MacPherson in race 9 overnight action.
Murphy scored another $7,500 consolation win with three-year-old filly KCS Starlite (Source Of Pride) with a 1:57.1 performance for co-owner and trainer Charles Miles of Fredericton, N.B., and co-owners Donald Bishop and Bruce MacDonald. Boo Yaya (Redmond Doucet Jr.) did the roadwork to settle for second while pocket riding Cantstopthelovin (Dowling) was third.
Elm Grove Restwind (Stonebridge Terror) was the best in the $7,500 two-year-old pacing colt Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation winning in 1:59.1 for trainer-driver Dowling and owners Alex Quinn of York and Brittany Watts of Springvale. JJ Landon (Gilles Barrieau) landed in the middle of the triactor while Bad Boy Boogie (Mike McGuigan) rounded out the ticket.
Fern Hill General (Malicious) survived a stretch drive assault by Soul Assassin (Dowling) in the three-year-old pacing colt consolation to win in 1:55 with St Charlesfireball (Marc Campbell) third. Brodie MacPhee drove the winning son of Malicious for owners Peter Smith of Stratford and Gerald Morrisey of Charlottetown and trainer Tom Weatherbie.
Barrieau drove Palladium Hanover (Artspeak) to a 1:59.2 maiden breaking effort in the race 1 opener to give the New Brunswick driver 4,999 career wins.
