CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Jeff Holmes stable did nothing but win on the Monday evening harness racing program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Orwell trainer landed at the capital oval with three entries and left with three winners including the $3,100 featured event with Imalookertoo (Shadow Play).
Brady Sweet was in the race bike for all the Holmes trained winner including a patient steer with Imalookertoo in the top event race of the evening. Macho Phil (Driven by Marc Campbell) was first to the lead in that event and released race favourite Bacononabiscuit (Adam Merner) to the front at the 27.3 opening quarter while post 1 starter Imalookertoo got away third.
The half was reached in 56.2 with Imalookertoo waiting until the backstretch to move first-over and quickly pounce to the front at the three-quarters of 1:25.3. Imalookertoo then took off in the stretch with Macho Phil second and Avatar J (Ken Murphy) third in 1:54. Holmes training the winning son of Shadow Play for Robert Sumarah of Halifax, N.S.
Sweet and Holmes also won race 7 with Burn Out Hanover (Well Said) in 1:54 then came back as Elroy Shiner (Warrawee Needy) won race 9 in a 1:56.1 clocking.
Heave Away (Campbell) had the fastest win of the night in an open-length score of 1:53.4 in race 5 from the Walter Walker barn of Inverness, N.S.
Gascoigne AC had the upset of the evening with a 1:57.3 win in race 2 at 31-1 odds in line to Damian MacLellan for trainer Tammy Collings.
