Hp Mama B (Royalty For Life) neared her career mark as she won the $32,000 Preferred-2 Trot against male harness racing opponents at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jun. 26).
After taking a seat behind leader Locatelli (James MacDonald) for the first quarter of :27.3, Hp Mama B (Sylvain Filion) swept to the front before the half in :56.3.
She pushed her lead out to three-lengths by three-quarters in 1:23.4 and carried the cushion into the sprint for home. Patriarch Hanover (Doug McNair) made a late dash but failed to bridge the final length as Hp Mama B closed out the win in 1:52.
Patriarch Hanover finished second by a quarter-length over Franks Angel (Bob McClure).
HP MAMA B REPLAY
Hp Mama B was a fifth of a second off her career best, which she set last season. She is now three-for-14 this year and 19-for-56 lifetime, having earned $653,083. Benoit Baillargeon trains the five-year-old mare he bred for Guylaine Picard of Guelph and Celine Paquin of Ayers Cliff.
Also on the card, Okeanos (E L Titan) remained undefeated on the season with his fifth straight win. This time he charged off a second-over trip for Bob McClure and won going away in 1:54. The Francis Guillemette-trained gelding went one-for-12 in 2022 but has been perfect for Guillemette, who took over his training at the start of the year. The seven-year-old has now won 12 of his 58 career starts and has earned $265,890. Guillemette co-owns him with Eric Beausejour and Stephane Geoffroy.
