Hunter Hill (Somebeachsomewhere) hung on narrowly to complete a wire-to-wire harness racing performance in his return to the Preferred ranks on Tuesday (Sep. 19) at Flamboro Downs.
Daryl Thiessen directed the gelding to the lead, and, after getting there, the duo set the first three panels of :27.2, :55.3, and 1:24 unchallenged. Dontpokethedragon (Travis Cullen) looked to strike up the passing lane, and the odds-on favouriteĀ gained as they came down the stretch, but Hunter Hill kept his nose in front at the finish to seal the 1:52.2 victory. Counter Offer (Mike Whelan) was third.
HUNTER HILL REPLAY
Hunter Hill has won back-to-back races after going eight winless. It was his first victory at the Preferred level and his first start at it since November 2022. Scott West owns and tarins the six-year-old who has now won 16 times and earned $166,760 in his 101 lifetime outings.
Flamboro Downs will continue racing on Thursday, Sep. 21 at 6:35 p.m. EDT.
