Impressive Dude (My Mvp) repeated in the Prospect Series with a narrow victory in leg 4A for freshman harness racing trotters on Saturday (Aug. 20) at Georgian Downs to double his lifetime total.
Jason Ryan pulled the colt back from the early charge for the front and accepted a four-hole tuck. Favourite Oceanview Massey (Tyler Borth) brought the field to the quarter in :29.1 and half in 1:01.2 before Impressive Dude kicked off from fourth.
Impressive Dude reeled in Oceanview Massey while first-over on the backstretch and was at his wheels by three-quarters in 1:31.4. The challenger motored past the leader and was all out to hold off Prestige Duharas (Loic Gueriel) by a head in 2:01.2.
Oceanview Massey was a clear third. The win price was $4.90.
IMPRESSIVE DUDE REPLAY
Impressive Dude, trained by Jean Tourigny, debuted successfully on Aug. 13 in leg 3B of the Propsect Series at Hiawatha and is two-for-two with $7,050 in earnings. Onwers Louis-Philippe Roy of Mississauga, Michel Letarte of Boucherville, and Jean Allaire of Montreal bought the colt for $17,000 at the Ontario Select sale.
Also on the card, two-year-old Quick Menu (Stay Hungry, Mario Baillargeon, 1:57.2) built off her maiden-breaking victory from a week ago and scored again in identical time. Fellow rookie Premier Tess (All Bets Off, Borth, 1:57) erased her goose egg in start number six with a three-quarter-length win.
Georgian Downsās next card on Sunday, Aug. 21 features the Earl Rowe Memorial Invitational Trot for a purse of $100,000. 2019 Hambletonian winner Forbidden Trade headlines the nine-horse field. First post is listed as 6:00 p.m. EDT.
